Armored combat is an integral activity in the Society for Creative Anachronism. Currently our next set of Monarchs are chosen at events called Crown Tournaments, wherein the combatants test their mettle and only the last fighter standing is crowned Prince or Princess.

Many of our events feature armored combat tournaments and scenarios that are devised by our warranted armored marshals. In order to participant in armored combat, individuals are strongly encouraged to attend local practices to learn about armor, weapons, and the rules that guide the fighters, marshals and ministers of the list. Once a person has acquired the necessary armor, experience and knowledge, they can then attend an event to become authorized. Authorization is a test of the candidate’s grasp of the rules and skills needed to participate safely in the activity. In order to fight at events, an individual must be authorized.
